Bought my B7800 last March. Currently have 90 tach hours (probably considerably higher clock hours) on it and have enjoyed just about every minute of it. With snow clearing and some further landscaping when the ground isn't frozen this winter, I figure that the first year's use will be between 100 and 125 hours.

That said, I agree with others, it isn't the amount of time but its usefulness for the large variety of things that need to be done. After the first few years, my annual hours may go down, but not the enjoyment I get from working with machinery, outdoors, year round. Feel the same way when the weather's bad and I'm indoors in my woodworking shop.

I'm no "pro" and doubtless never will be, but I've learned a lot about how to use the FEL, backhoe and 3ph implements that I have and I get real satisfaction about being able to use them with increasing skill, efficiency and effectiveness. I'd guess most CUT owners feel about the same.

Let's see it's been almost a year now since we got our current tractor late last November. I have learned a lot about our New Holland and it has taught us a few tricks as well. Just turned 350 hours on the hour meter so we are using it on a regular basis around here and it has enabled us to make our day a lot more productive as a result. At this point we really can't imagine what it would be like around here without it.

Ditto, ditto, ditto.

I love tractor time.. but let me tell you.. I sure was glad when i swapped tractors so i could run a 10' mower vs a 5' mower to mow my pasture.. cut my mowing time to just under half... I can now do a few more productive things around the farm with those extra 'found' hours that I'm not strapped onto my big blue diesel weedwacker..

( The point that I was trying to make in that post was that most of the tractors here are not worked hard or at lease to any great degree. These tractors should serve their owners well for many many years. )

That's exactly what I thought you meant when I read your quote. Any tractor should hold up well to the types of work most of us do. I might even add that it doesn't take a lot of hours to abuse a tractor if you really try. The same goes for automobiles.

The fact that a tractor "should" hold up says something about a tractor. The way that tractor is "used" or "abused" says something about the operator. I hope my 800 hours on my tractor are the use it was designed for. I'm sure I've done the proper maintenance and many jobs I've avoided because I don't think the tractor would hold up if I used it for those jobs.

Bill, I think a "tractor wimp" is someone who buys a tractor and then doesn't use it at all because it scares him. What do you think? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'm definetly a " Wimp " but the little B7100 sure isn't and shows 2300 hours worth of battle scars like shiny spots where paint has disapeared from contact with boots and hands, a bucket that is almost devoid of paint, loader pins that are getting sloppy, Tires that are getting worn down and the inevitable hawthorn scratches.

Heck, I've even worn out the steering wheel bearings and turned one of the steering arms into a pretzl. Almost every weld on the loader has been redone and the plate the front wheels attach to did break once.

It's all I have and gets placed into trying situations.
