There aren't any 12 volt solenoids. There is a solid mechanical link between the shift lever and the sliding valves in the valve body.I don't know anything about your tractor but when you say "powershift" my mind immediately thinks "temperamental 12V switch". Is that a possibility?
In principle, it is the same design as how a loader's control levers are attached to the valves inside the loader control body.
There is nothing to go wrong in the external parts of the shifter, aside from levers or linkage pins getting worn/bent.
