Due to not paying attention I ran out of fuel with my tractor and after filling up it will not start. What do I need to do?

You'll need to bleed the air out of your lines all the way up to the injectors. If your tank is in higher elevation than your fuel bowl or pump inlet (it usually is) then gravity can help you bleed the air. On My Ford I have two I have bleed screw on the bowl assembly. If my tank is full and I am changing the fuel filter by opening the bleed screw on the bowl it allows the air scape. You can see fuel replacing the air in the bowl. as soon as you start seeing fuel coming out of bleed screw you can close the bleed screw (CW). At that point you have to bleed the air out of injector line all the way to the injector. that can ve achieved by either opening the injector fuel connection to allow air bleeding or better option is to crank enough till you get the air bleed in to the cylinder provided you have enough juice in your battery. I'll make sure I have a jumper cable at the ready if I need to use it. I hope this will help you.

Although the info below is for Ford tractor, conceptually should be the same procedure as your kubota.

In your manual see changing fuel filter. It should explain how to bleed the fuel system.

Please, do not refer to running out of fuel but rather use the term " Checking the bottom of the tank for debris"

On my tractor one must bleed just at the exit of the fuel filter and then at the exit of the injector pump. Your manual should have these points shown as others have already stated.:D :D

Sure hope your fuel tank was clean!:D :D Mine gets checked rather frequently as it has no fuel gauge other than a stick!:D

I don't know how the 3130 is configured, but the BX series has an electric fuel pump which allows air to be automatically purged. Fortunately, I've never had to use this feature, nor have I ever had to bleed a fuel system but I know it can be a royal PITA. My recommendation would be to consult your operator's manual or call the dealer for specific advise on your model.

My largeer Nh tractor is the same way.. turn key on. and open the bleed screw tot he injector.. wait till fuel bubbles, close screw, and then finish starting tractor.. My older diesels are the 'hard way'

I've been with many tractors when they ran out of fuel. You can ignore what I'm going to tell you or use it for the future!

When the tractor first starts to gain rpm or to die out from fuel starvation and you know you are low, stop and shut the engine off. Do not try and drive it closer to your fuel source just stop and shut it off! I've never had to bleed a system when this is done and yes I or someone might have had to walk and there was idle time but it still was better then having to bleed a system.

Soundguy,

Last Saturday I did the exact procedure to replace my fuel filter. Although I allowed the tractor to run for a while to get nice and warm before I changed the oil and also the fuel filter. It took about 5 minutes and she started right up on the first try, but as you mentioned I closed bleed screw to the injector hence not allowing the injector piping to loose it's fuel .. in other words... did not need to bleed the air from the injector piping as a result.

The L3130 should have a bleeder valve on top of injection pump towards the front. I think open it up and start tractor and run or crank until air is out and then close. It is in owners manual for procedure.

Art, had to drain my fuel, bleed the lines, etc. on my B7100 when I got a lot of water in my fuel. Then I had to bleed them again when a neighbor ran it out of fuel while using it to rake hay (I was driving his big tractor doing the baling at the time). The second time it didn't take me but a very few minutes.

But I experienced what you just said twice while working at my brother's place; quick shut down, refill the tank and go.
