Tractor won't start

The only time I had to bleed mine (other than when changing the fuel filter) was when I left the fuel line stopcock in the off position as a (lame) security measure. Started driving around and it sputtered a second and then died. Opened the line up and it sputtered againa and died. Took me a minute to realize what to do. On my L4400 all you have to do is open the bled vlave, run for something like thirty seconds, close it and go.

the only problem i see with this is if you have a turbo charger, and are running at load, and start to die.. IE.. I'd rather blee dthe system, and try to let it idle for 30 seconds or more on whatever fuel it can still suck while the turbo cools a bit, vs shutting it down piping hot.

I've had to replace a turbo on an engine due to coked up bearings.. not a job that is as easy as bleed ing a fuel line..

I've been with many tractors when they ran out of fuel. You can ignore what I'm going to tell you or use it for the future!

When the tractor first starts to gain rpm or to die out from fuel starvation and you know you are low, stop and shut the engine off. Do not try and drive it closer to your fuel source just stop and shut it off! I've never had to bleed a system when this is done and yes I or someone might have had to walk and there was idle time but it still was better then having to bleed a system.
