Yep. You know how these deals go. At first you have an idea of what you want to spend, then it escalates. That's how I was last Winter when shopping for the Ford. I started out going to spend in the 5K range. Ended up spending 8.5K. But I got the tractor I really needed and wanted. So it's all good.

Kinda like that guy in Colorado and his new Kubota purchase. That was a very good first post.

No preference if it's 2wd or 4wd. There is a 1957 Ford 850 for sale in the area for 3K restored. Comes with a PTO mower as well as bucket.

If you are looking for old iron, the 8N would not be on my list. I grew up on one. No live 3pt, no live PTO. Neither good features for any type of 3pt or PTO work.

If old Fords are your goal, move into the 60s era tractors like the Jubilee or 600 or 800 series. Go on Tractorhouse.com or Fastline.com and look around. You'll get an idea of availability and price.

Tractorhouse and/or Fastline will also let you see the many, many model and make differences available.

A great source for technical information is Tractordata.com. When you see a tractor you like, then search it on tractordata to get technical data about HP, live PTO, etc.

Probably first thing you need to determine is how much money you want to spend.

Good advice, but all of the Fords you mentioned all started production in the 1950s. The thousand series was the first to start in the 1960s. I only say that so it doesn't confuse someone who looks at those models and expects to see 1960s production dates.
