I know this is a subject that's been discussed a number of times before - is there one that hasn't? - but, like safety, it's hard to beat this one to death.

I just wanted to say thanks to Muhammad for making TBN possible, and to the member community in general (including Muhammad again) for making the forum what it is. I've gotten huge amounts of valuable advice, assistance, information, and fun out of the TBN gang. Not to mention lots of wonderful ideas, magnets, coffee, lots and lots of private e-mail discussions, some phone calls, electrical circuits, etc. It's an amazing resource we all have here.

One of the most amazing things, to me, is that it's a hugely diverse collection of enthusiasts displaying a tremendous amount of civility. These two things are often mutually exclusive, because an enthusuiast always has an opinion, usually a strong one, and that tends make discussions a little vocal and spirited. An incredible balance is shown here in that regard.

Apparently, many of us are also using Muhammad's new search engine a lot, too, because I'm seeing a lot fewer of the same old questions asked over and over again. One thing I'd like to encourage, though: I've repeatedly seen some of the best ideas, or questions, for that matter, come from those who start their message with something like: "I've been reading TBN for 7 years now (ok, I'm exaggerating), and I just decided to join in the discussion." Don't wait! We don't bite! Well, seldom, and if we do, it's just a flesh wound, and we bandage it up for you right away. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Anyway, what I really wanted to say was, thanks!

Great post Mark. I'm in total agreement!!! I guess we might have to start a new 12 step program though....."Hi my name is Kevin and I'm addicted to TBN" /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I've been on here for almost 2 years (I think) and have posted 420 questions (don't think too many of those were answers). Guess this will make it 421 /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif. I have completely enjoyed my time here and have learned a ton.

Muhammad, I completely echo Mark's thanks for a job well done!

Mark,

You are 110% correct in what you say about the TBN community and in thanking Muhammed for creating, maintaining, and "putting up with" this diverse family.

I was one of those "lurkers" who finally decided to "talk" and jump in on the discussions. Prior to TBN, I would look over some of the computer technology sites (i.e. very geeky, downright rude, and uninformative in my view). So, I just shied away from talking and expressing myself. After lurking for awhile, I noticed that there was a general sense of community - light hearted banter, genuine concern between members, sharing of information, gentle nudging to calm heated discussions, and a lot more. So, I figured, what the heck. Join in and see what its like.

Glad I did and will stick around for a long, long time. My thanks goes out to all who have helped me with my questions. I was a newbie less than a year ago and am more than happy to pass along my experience to those who need some help. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I can't agree more. I can't think of ANY OTHER SITE on the internet that is as civil, and welcoming as this site.

Someone put it best by saying "TBN is like the front porch of an old Country Store."

Pull yourself up a chair. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Every few days there's another post or thread, even, that underscores why TBN is what it is.

Tonight it was (to me) Bob_T's post on foster children and the folks who responded with encouragement and accounts of having done the same thing.

There's some quality people here. 'Nuff said.

Mark,

Excellent post.

I agree with you and the others of this thread. This site is civil. This is great group of people supporting other people with similar interests. In reality, it is more than just civil, it is a lesson in civility.

The only two regrets I have are:

1) I have left things on the stove or oven, while checking posts, and returned only to find charcoal.

2) My wife has now figured out that I love to work outdoors on my tractor and I no longer get points for suffering.

Maybe we could start a forum on “spouse psychology” and “kitchen safety in light of TBN”.
