Thanks for the info on that processor Shooter. Looks like a pretty neat rig. As I looked at it I was thinking a higher price tag than it actually has.

Some times I like to run my trailer and splitter out in the woods and work up fire wood on site. It works pretty good. But the biggest problem is that it is a long throw from the splitting station into the trailer. A lot of pieces I have to take a few steps out around the tire to get closer before I can toss it in.

So I thought I would try to get the splitter turned around the other way so I would be working close to the trailer. Seemed like an easy way would be to put two more mounting ears on the beam and just turn the beam the other way on the frame. That way I could switch it back and forth pretty easy. In the process of playing around I found out the beam/cylinder were very top heavy and wanted to flop over if you lifted with straps under the beam so I put a lifting lug high on each end while I was at it.

To change directions I just remove the hold down clip on the hitch end, pull the hinge pin, and lift the beam free of the frame. Then turn the trailer frame around under neath it, set the beam down, and put it back together the other way around.

I think this will be a big improvement. I'm throwing from my strong side now too. An extra plus I hadn't planned on.

Guys,

The totes are modified so they are relatively easy to load and unload: BTW using the cut down plastic bin avoids having to dispose of it, increases capacity. acts like a little drying oven when totes are stored in the sun, and provides protection from snow and rain. The bin is zip tied to the frame.

The processor is made by Dyna:

DYNA SC-12 XP Firewood Processor | DYNA Products

There are videos on the site of how they operate. The one I rented had a live deck that I loaded with the grapple attachment...easy peasy. It also had the diesel engine option and sipped fuel. About 10 gal over 15 hours. It comes with three sets of saw chains. It takes about 20 minutes to change a chain the first time if doing it alone...a third hand helps a lot...LOL

Like I said, I will never manually process firewood again. In a previous thread, I looked at buying a faster splitter with a stationary wedge. It did not make sense for me to invest $4000+ for a "good" splitter when I can do the whole job of cutting and splitting for less than $40 cord without breaking a sweat. or maintaining a saw and splitter. (BTW, a "loggers" cord is a stack of logs 100" long and 4x4 ft.). I use 7 cords per season, so my processing cost is $300/year including fuel for the processor and tractor. And the big plus...I can keep using wood fuel for many more years. The only real "work" this year was stacking splits into the totes...about an hour per tote working alone....30 minutes with a helper.

As to the issue mentioned by a poster of "bending over", there is minimal bending as the tote can be lifted up with the forks. The most bending is getting splits off the ground when the pile gets low. With a helper sitting on a stool, they can lift the splits up off the ground and hand them to the person stacking. Time to stack with a helper should be about .30 minutes per tote (.45 cord).

GG, yes the pretty lady is my fiancé!!! The photo was taken weeks ago after we had completed the processing work. Sadly, we learned three weeks ago she has cancer so we are praying for a good outcome. She was ticked that I would not let her help me stack any totes and felt sorry for me working in the heat alone. But she was recovering from biopsies, and it made no sense to push things.

Sometimes I guess it does help to read a post if pictures dont make sense, everything looked normal to me just couldn't figure what why you was welding on the spliter for, sometimes a picture isn't worth a 1000 words. Thats clever, should work good long as you have plenty of turn around room, backing up is out of the question.

The pump doesn't need to be running, just hooked up so the surge can run through the wires to it. Spent part of the day yesterday checking on all things that were plugged in... treadmill, big saws out in the garage etc, I have a list for the guys coming out tomorrow to test stuff.

What about the coffee maker, thats almost as important as the pump, heck with the tread mill your wife is skinny enough. The Anybody Want Coffee Guy - YouTube

So is this the firewood processor you rented>>>>>>DYNA log processor sc-12xp easy firewood - YouTube

The unit I rented may be a newer style. The log hold down was automatically engaged when the saw was activated. There was no lever to pull the saw down. The saw was activated by a control. Plus it had an out feed conveyor that was adjustable for height. Did not watch the whole video you posted but the rental unit had an adjustable wedge to address different log diameters on the fly. Other than that, the machine looks the same.

Want to add,,.if I was 15 years younger, I would make the investment. In my area, firewood is a popular way to heat as we have a lot of poor people in the county. I am confident than the unit can be paid for quickly by selling processed wood, providing a processing service and/or renting the unit.

It is and we discussed them in an earlier thread about splitters,

I thought so. I couldn't remember if that was you or someone else with the electric RamSplitter.
