You've got a really nice setup, that system should work well.

Bryant Pond, the last town in the country to get rid of crank phones. I still remember the slogan, "Don't yank the crank!"

Thank you!

And yes indeed! We even felt the need to showcase that accomplishment with a large, monumental crank phone in the middle of town. It's something else. I do love it here, though.

I found some other pictures to share, these are from the summer of '20 when Dad and I used his JD 4510 to clear our new camp lot in northern Maine.

Hi all, my first post in this thread. I drove down to Knoxland Equipment today and picked up our new Fransgard V-4021. Got it mounted on our 4540 and had to cut the included PTO shaft down 2" for proper clearance.

This is my first experience with a wood winch. I grew up cutting and processing firewood with my father and his JD 4510 for our family's home, and now I cut and process my own with a Mahindra 4540. I typically cut, process, and burn 5-6 cords/year. My property has an abundance of quality firewood available, but it is located on the side of a mountain, which can make harvesting wood challenging at times.

There are many sections of the property that I have never cut because I simply have no way to access the felled trees with my tractor, due mainly to steep inclines. So, I hope this wood winch will be a game changer for my operation. I've always wanted one, literally since I was about 15 (I'm 29 now), so I'm like a kid on Christmas today. Hoping I get many years of use out of it.

Another pic of the tractor hauling split wood. I've calculated that with the bucket stacked full and the 3PH wood box stack full, I'm hauling about .4 cord/load.

Congrats on the new winch Walt - you are right, the winch will do good for you on hilly terrain. It is still work but you can get access to the trees. Work safe.

The wind blew over a big oak out in my woods some time ago, so today my friend and me, finally got started on getting it out,

Resized-20220402-115952-S.jpg

We started at the top and cut it into chunks, skidding them as we went,

Until we got to some pretty good sized 10' chunks,

we got about half of it out,

then it started to rain, so I called it quits and we came back home.

Maybe next weekend we can work on it some more...
