I ended up with 3 truck loads of oak from a buddy. it was cloase to 3 foot diameter and he needed someone with a big saw to help cut it up and he wanted it gone so a win win for everyone.

The way it is looking I think I'll be burning a lot more wood this winter. I don't think I will be the only one either.

I think those bad boys are bowing out the side walls of your truck bed. Nice wood!

I offered to team up with a friend to get some dead/problem tree's out of my woods for firewood, for both of us. SO, yesterday we worked on getting the "second half" of an oak we started, on some time ago.

He prefers to work with his own Husky saw, and that's fine with me, as it's bigger than my saw, for these bigger logs,

The tree was back in the woods about 160', so we sure was glad to have a skidding winch on my tractor,

The main trunk was pretty good sized,

and we ended up with a decent pile of oak,

IF you add that to what we got out of the first half of the tree,

It was a LOT of good firewood to get out!

That is for sure. Driving around here I can see that the guys doing commercial firewood have much bigger log piles than usual so that is there thinking too.
