The ground froze up pretty good here last night, so I skidded out this red oak log using the Farmi winch. I was impressed that the winch yanked it right out of the ice that was holding it to the ground. Hit a bit of a soft spot when I was driving to the firewood yard, so I had to drop it and winch it back in.

Here in Atlantic Canada, we've had 3 big snow storms in the past 3 weeks. Working in the woods has stopped till later on in the spring.

I don't remember who posted a pic of them using an empty 300 gal tote for moving their wood but THANKS! I was able to get them for $25 without the plastic container. This one holds just about a face cord, I cut my wood at 16". As soon as I can I going back and getting 4 more. This is dry wood in the picture that I am moving away from my garage until next fall. My FEL is rated for just over 2,000 #s.

Maybe this one in this thread. Others have been posted before in other threads.

I think for the BX I will have to cut one down to about a foot high so I can lift it. Now to find one less than a 50 mile trip away. :)

Joeyd-Any idea what the metal tote weighs empty? Also, do you the dimensions?
Thanks.

I have been toying with using my excess cattle panels - 48" high x 16' long - and attaching it to a skid 7' x 4.5' leaving one side open for easier access. I was going to cover the top with a tarp but leave the sides open for good seasoning. Then add tarps in the fall before the sideways rains and snow starts. I know this would be heavy but my forks are on the 3 pt so I should be OK. Anybody ever tried this? Thoughts?

I thought about it before I started building the boxes I build, but I didn't want to have to deal with that much weight...

Were you wearing a mask? Please tell me where I get them for $25. Thank you.
