Your back will be thanking you for the 30 years. I made one 35 years to go in back of the tractor PTO, never had any problems as yet.

Well I spent to much money today on something I could have built very similar myself but just don't really have the time.

Now that is gilding the lily. How can you need to adjust the height of the cross wedge often enough to need a hydraulic piston on it? Very nice though. If it ever turns up missing you might want to check my back yard for it.

I know just about nothing about wood splitters, but am curious as to why you chose a gas powered one over PTO power?
That IS one nice looking rig!

Stand alone means can be carrying logs, carting firewood, etc with tractor while somebody else is splitting. Or don't need to cart tractor to site if only splitting a few rounds, etc.
