My turn to contribute a lil' something. Most of our east coast folks are thinking snow right about now, but I snuck out on Sunday before we got a few inches here in MI ourselves, and got some logs out of the woods. The morning started out crispy in the teens but quickly got up around freezing and nice and sunny. Perfect Logging weather.

We had 60+ mph wind gusts last Wednesday which blew over several dead ash trees. I also had some walnut tops left over from a select cut a few years back that I still wanted to get after. A lot easier to get to now before the thorns and brush grow in (with a vengeance, around here!). Also the ground was pretty much fully thawed and nice and dry.

I don't have a winch or any good way to skid, so I like to buck up 6-8' log lengths and carry them out clean.

I built this big saw buck a fears back to help avoid cutting on the ground. It works... ok.

Got a decent pile of cut rounds accumulating and ready for splitting. My "carport" blew apart in the winds last Wednesday (scratched my truck to ****, ******). Should have known better.

After a few hours of sawing and moving logs, it was time to play around with the puppy and kiddo. New 30x36 shop down the hill there.... still needs concrete and electrical.

Nice pictures. Sorry to hear about your truck.

New trailer? You usually have one in the pictures with sides on it?
No, it's not new, I built that trailer back in the early 90's... The axles are 6K axles, so it's a pretty good wood hauler, and I have sides for it too...

My wagon that's usually in the picts is full of firewood so I had to break out one of my "back up" haulers... lol

Nice! Wallenstein makes a great unit.

I was quite taken with the weight of the unit. As I assembled pieces, it was obvious it has a fair amount of steel in it. Lots of companies won't warranty a product if used for commercial purposes. Wallenstein gives the consumer a 5 year warranty and 2 years if used for a business.

I'm enjoying this thread greatly. Started at beginning and taking days to work through it on and off. New to TBN and new to cutting and burning. Installed new wood stove this year since I have a ton of trees easy to obtain. Gould in VT, enjoyed your comments and might be using your ideas for tractor carry all. Since we live sort of close.

Cutting up a cedar that we paid to move and save to no avail. It didn't root. Also pulling out the metal stakes that I had to hold it in place.
