Yeah, go for it. Add an ms461 and put a 16" on your 270. You'll have a lot more fun cutting wood.

Lol. That may be a bit much saw for my needs. The reason l like the 362 is its the same weight as the 270 it 10 more cc. I’d go for the pro 50ccbut why not keep the same weight and have more power.

The 461 jumps up a bit it weight.

I kind of thought along those same lines when I bought a Husqvarna 562 chainsaw, but sadly it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy underpowered. I even dialed it back to a 18 inch bar (for a host of reasons listed a few pages back), but it just lacks power. Maybe it is a soft clutch or something because you would think 60 cc's could do something, but unless the chain is razor sharp, a person would be better off going with a cross-cut saw.

The Stihl MS 461 though...with an 18 inch bar, that was the perfect all around chainsaw. Felling, limbing, bucking...I never wanted more power out of it, and any heavier and it would wear me out. Sadly I ran over mine and replaced it with the Husky 562; a purchase I truly regret.

Sounds like my definition of a true lady!

I wish you many more happy years of doing your own thing!

Thanks, and everyone else too on this topic.

It sometimes is difficult for us because we do see people scoff at us with the rolling of the eyes and dirty looks, and we understand, and often feel bad. A wife and husband also out on a date while their husband looks at Katie with a smile. I can see where by judgement they might think we are showing off, or trying to "be all that."

I understand that, and feel bad, especially if the lady has weight issues, or lacks what the world defines as physical beauty.

But that is why no one should judge (something I am guilty of myself at times), because they just do not understand that we work hard on a farm and like to get out of sheep poo smelling duds when we go out. And they do not see Katie working out every night to stay in shape, or really watching what she eats. Some of that is more than just fitting into a size 4 dress too, extra weight is hard upon her knees and back, so she stays trim for her own health reasons.

I am hoping once my bout with cancer is over, I can get back into shape myself. This is not a cope out, but right now I really lack physical stamina. I fell 3-4 trees and have to take a break, I just cannot get moving, and I just ache; from the soles of my feet to the tips of my ears I hurt.

Incidentally logging was the reason they found out I had cancer. A spring pole nearly ended my life, sent me to the hospital for four days, and CAT scans revealed I had tumors. So a chainsaw nearly killed me and saved my life all at the same time.

Thank You Stihl MS 461...

I had my ms361 “hopped up” by a guy in VT called West Hill Sawhouse. The saw literally feels 50% stronger.

I do think I’ll pick up a 462 when they are available but this 361 (after modding) is a truly incredible saw with an 18” bar.

Hundreds and hundreds of 562xp's have been sold, with the owners loving their saws. (me included) It's the number one saw going out the door of many dealers and Broken track had to get a lemon.

It's true that "some" early saws had some hot start issues but that's been LONG ago been corrected...

I'm sorry to hear that your saw is a lemon, Broken track, I'd get rid of that 562 instead of trying to live with a lemon! I've owned lemon saws, so I know how you feel...

Mean while, the rest of us that own 562's are cutting load after load of saw logs and firewood,

and the saws have good power and are running great, day after day!

I’ve never had a 362, but my 372 is a strong cutting saw. It’ll pull big thick chips with that 20” bar buried. IMG_3919.JPG

So your saying jumping from ms270 to ms362 isn’t worth it?

I guess my next question is this. When comparing same size CC saw but ranch:farm vs pro. Beside being able to rebuild, Is there a huge performance difference? Being both the same CC?

You are a lot braver than I am, that's a bit of a load to be on that hillside.
lol.. I picked it up from just below where I was in this pic. There was no danger of if tipping forward.. It was pine.. fairly light.

Down...Simba...Down...!
haha..

I would hope the "other" end of the log is on the ground.
Nope. The tree was fairly light. maybe 800lbs.. The end of it was just outside of the camera view.

I’ve had such good luck with my saw so I’d most likely get another Stihl. Plus, the dealer is right down the street and thus far I’ve had great deal with them. (Had a pair of aluminum shaft pruners by stihl). It literally snapped when I first got it). He said he’d technically needed to ship it back and have it fixed, but took another new one off the shelf and said have a good day. Also small town local guy I like giving my business too.

With all that said, that is a good looking saw you have. It also looks brand new out of the box.

I'm not sure about a 362. I've got a 361 with a 20" bar and I love it. I went from a 025 to it. Its a mean cutting machine.
