Well your SIL did a good job on the video but dont I cringe everytime I see someone lifting logs with no top forward stops.

Thanks for the recommendation. I am always looking at that when lifting them onto a pile. I have a grapple to put in place and I will like using that better and no stops needed on that.

Those two steel bridge pieces are purpose built,, I doubt 60 tons would bother them,,
They are made out of wide flange beam, and plate steel. The loggers get them custom built.
They have several sets,,

Those trees are now in my bank account!!

BUT, the new trees have grown in,, mostly over 15 feet tall,, :D I was out there yesterday,,

Oooo.. I'd love to see a "now" pic... please!

Temporary Wooden Skidder Bridges | Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation
("Portable skidder bridges are now widely accepted as a best management practice for controlling non-point source >pollution< associated with timber harvesting operations.")
What pollution are they talking about? I just want spring run-off water to flow through by not letting the constant dragging of wood debris to fall in the brook. I always thought it is the wet dry wet dry that causes rot, staying one way or the other wood wont rot, like the 100 year old logs under Moosehead Lake. And where in the world is someone going to get a 6x10x20' hemlock, 20 of them? That is diffidently skidder wood.

The #1 pollutant in Lake Champlain is sediment. Hard to believe, but yes, it is considered a pollutant by the State ANR. That alone is a significant problem for fish, since it smothers their egg laying grounds. A significant component of that runoff is phosphorus. The phosphorus is at the heart of our problems with toxic blue-green Algae blooms in that lake and many other, smaller lakes, killing off fish and making the water unsafe to swim in. So yeah, there is more to this than just wanting your water to drain off. There is a reason for all of those water quality regulations.

WOW Christmas in July let the fun begin............

What do you use the chipper for? Or rather, the chips you蛟、l make with it? I bought a princess auto 13 hp unit over 8 years ago for my mother as she was dying with cancer. I put one branch through it back then. I just recently took it out of the shed, took the carb off but it was surprisingly clean. But the tank was terrible. I致e been away from home s few weeks now but before I left I filled it with vinegar. Maybe I値l try acetone when I get home. I知 not sure the best way to clean it. What do you use the chips for?

We pile them and let them rot for use in our garden and for other places where the soil could use a boost. I also keep having chips brought in from Arborist companies. They typically have to pay to get rid of their chips so I let them dump them for free and then pile them up. They make great compost in time. It will be nice to have my own chipper since i am constantly having brush to deal with and we can't burn in NJ so now I have a tool to handle the stuff I don't burn. The WC68 will handle up to 6" which I typicaly burn 4 inch and above.
