What's even sadder is that the Wal-farms are sucking up the farm subsidies that were there to help the "smaller" family farmer. A few months ago it was on the news about these million dollar plus checks to "big" business farms One guy was quote " na I don't need it but would you turn down a million dollar check from the gov't ?" ouch -Ed

Was there once more of a connection between the value of what a worker did and how much money he made? I suppose that brings up the question of intrinsic value and who gets to define it.

Bingo. The myth that big corporations desire or embody 'free' markets is hogwash. Even as corporate entities they want the same thing we all want. They want the bigger slice of pie and they don't care how they get it. And right now the system is weighted in their favor. When a system favors you, it sounds nice to call it 'free'.
