Tractors have come a long long way

Just got back from a visit to my daughter and family out in OR. We stopped at a logging museum featured at Collier State Park just north of klamath. Here is a high pressure steam tractor used out there for logging after the Civil War and before the advent of internal combustion engines in the 1900's. Looks like a fun ride.

Probably supports for an operator's platform, but at first glance, it looks like it has a 3-point hitch.

An interesting museum.

When you look at the basic functions of a tractor, they really haven't changed much in 150 years. Still have the operator setting at the rear, steering wheel etc to turn with. Sure we have more comfort items like better seating, AC and Heated cabs but the tractor hasn't changed much especially since the 8N Ford days especially when you compare it to our other amenities, like radio, TV and cell phones for communicating versus a month old newspaper or telegraph for those really urgent communications that couldn't wait of mailman to deliver a letter perhaps a month or more later.

Those were the good old days its good they are gone because you got old real quick its great to se them in a museum

There are some Amish (Mennonite?) that are still using steam tractors/engines near where I live. One in particular I remember driving by and I immediately thought how enormous it was...it must have been nearly 20ft tall.

And they probably have a seat and don't burn wood. Still a bit backward though. I would enjoy seeing one in action.
