Tractors per Hectacre around the world.

The economist had a short article about how many tractors per hectacre are used in various countries around the world. Here is a link

I hope it's readable by the general public. I found the chart pretty interesting.

By the way, a hectacre is about 2.5 acres (more or less)

At quick glance it looks like the US is ~ 0.03 per hectacre. That puts each tractor at about 33 hectacres each.

So......each tractor to about 80 acres. Neat chart:thumbsup: But it seems a bit off IMO.

It says "arable" land. But are they only counting tractors "used" on that land. Or are they taking TOTAL tractors??. IE: is my two tractors counted in that even though I dont have any "arable" land??

The farmer we hunt and cut firewood on farms about 700 acres. He as only 5 tractors. Thats far fewer than 1 for each 80 acres. And he has nothing above a 130 HP. I am sure bigger farms with larger tractors it is even less, since bigger tractors do more than small ones, they dont need as many per acre.
