You may never know the entire story. It might be an over-zeolous police chief, or there may be more to the story than what meets the eye. Remember ALL the entities involved. Let's see, we have the press. (We all know they NEVER print anything but the fact in their entirety. Then there's a bunch of sweet inocent high school kids. Surely there's now way they could have caused any trouble. (Sarcasm-A taunting or caustic remark, generally ironic. Websters New World)

And then there's a school like the high school just minutes from here. It WAS way out in the boonies just a few years back. Now it's in the fastest growing county in the state and NOT in the country anymore. Once upon a time, you could drive a tractor down the road to school. Now it wouldn't be the safest thing anyone ever did.

That story seems auspiciously "brief", as in a lot of fact deliberately left out.

You've got alcohol, drugs, STD's, unwanted pregnancy, gangs, beatings, murder and all sorts of other stuff going on in our schools and this doofus is worried about some kids driving tractors to shcool. Go figure /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just read some 2nd hand info (on another site) that mentioned an accident involving several tractors last year as the reason why. (From someone who says they live near the school)

As the law reads in NY it agrees that you can only use your tractor on the road for farm / agricultural use. Driving it to school as transportation does not apply as farm use.
For many years it was a big tradition here in farm country to drive tractors to school until last year. A kid driving a tractor was passing another vehicle, lost control, rolled down a hill and was killed. The school banned the ritual to prevent another occurrence and asked police to stop anyone driving a tractor to school as transportation.
