I have a 1988 650 complete with loader and BH. I am toying with the idea of trading it in on a 2520, which would also be complete with FEL and BH. I bought the 650 new and it has been a flawless tractor and still is. I am curious as to the reliability and pure ability of the 2520. Two things that set me back on the 2520 is the split-level rear axle and the fact that it’s weight is only 10 pounds more than my 650 and the 650 is a smaller tractor and only a 2 cylinder diesel. Any comments?
Trade 650 in for a 2520?

Does the 650 do everything you ask of it and need it to?
If yes, then I would not trade it in on a newer machine.

I upgraded to a 2210 from a JD 650, do your self a favor, don't trade in your 650 try selling it your self first. The dealer will have your 650 sold in a week and make a lot of money off it. When I sold my 650 with 642 hrs , 67 loader and 60" rear grooming mower. I literally had people fighting over it in my driveway and ended up getting $8700, and it was out front of my house for less then an hour. That's what I paid for it 6yrs. earlier less the mower.
Dealer will give me $10,500 on trade. However even at the value it still makes for a tough nut on a 2520 with FEL and BH. BTW the 650 is in great shape with no complaints, just have it in my mind to get a new one. Owning the 650 for approximately 20 years I’m sure something is going to go wrong with it sooner than later...
