Trade in price on my L3900

Here is what I would do.
Wash thoroughly. Remove and paint both buckets. Even rattle can will look better than it does now. The Rustoleum "Lobster Red" seems to be a perfect match. and it is $3.77 at wally world. Be sure to touch up any other scrapes. Wipe down any grease globs, but be sure there is fresh grease in all of the joints. I would probably use armor all or similiar on the outside of the tires, just for first impression looks.

People make up their minds in a few seconds if they like the looks of something or not. The Tier 4 thing may or may not help. 6 or 8 months ago, I would have said yes, but as the new tractors are out there, and people are not having trouble with them, and the lack of smoke and smell, can be perceived as a good thing now by many.

Set it out for $23,000 and be prepared to knock at least $1000 off as the negotiations move along.

That's a good idea K0ua. First impression's mean everything.

Not for me... fresh paint tells me you might be hiding something. It doesn't look even remotely abused so I would sell it as is but at a slightly lower price. Clean it up, yes!! Are there many tractor for sale in your area? Nothing wrong listing it as is at 23k to see if anyone bites... maintenance records mean more to me.

PS. I assume you have the rest of the ROP!!!

EDIT: Hate to say it but screwing up the title might keep the responses low. I have to admit I only looked to see what an L3900 was. You mention in your other post "it seems like if I had a little more FEL and BH strength, it would work better for me"... dealers or Kubota usually sets the PSI on the low side... if it's only a "little" strength, Many of us have bump the psi a couple hundred pounds... Just a thought.

Seems like between this and your other post a couple members are interested in your L3800. Should have no problem selling.

The only issue I can see now is selling this time of year. I may have to wait for spring before I do anything. This is not a good time of year to sell one, but a good time to buy one. :)

I know at one time that Barlow's was pretty price competitive. Is this still the case? How do they handle trade ins?

PM John Thomas. He has a ton of experience with Barlow's.

I've bought/traded with Barlows around 16/17 times in 11 years. I did buy one older tractor and traded it to him for a trailer and did trade him an F2680e and bought it back a year later. I've also sold a couple of my Kubotas myself and didn't trade.
Steve has always given me what I felt/believed was a fair trade in figure but I have another incentive for trading with him. Ky state sales tax is 6% since I don't buy for agri purposes. The trade in price is subtracted from the new purchase price and I only pay the 6% on the difference, when I pay him instead of him paying me the difference. When he pays me difference I don't collect the tax from him.:D He's tax exempt any way as a business.
A little patience with trying to reach him and you may be able to make a trade your satisfied with. If your time is to valuable to deal with his schedule your probably better off doing something different. He's busy but when you reach him he will give you full attention but may have to call a few times and be patient. He doesn't get in a hurry and could never make it in New York City.:D:laughing:

I'll be honest, Steve has been great with communication. I called him Saturday morning to price me out a 4060 instead and he called me back at 12:30 and said that they were busy and he didn't get to it, but would call me on Monday with the which I didn't think I would hear from him till Monday anyhow. Since the season is slowing down, they have more time to devote to their customers.

I talked to Steve again today and had him price out a 4060 instead. I worry that the 3560 may not be enough power for the bh. He gave me a great price. I'm probably going to make a move tomorrow. Here are the specs I'm looking at:

L4060
FEL with Heavy Duty 72" Bucket
9' Backhoe with 16" bucket. I wanted to with an 18", but it seems like 16" is good for digging and trenching. Opinions??
R4 Tires
Mechanical Thumb
Fiberglass deluxe canopy
Front and Rear canopy lights
Kubota Insurance for 5 years

I think that would work very well for me. A little larger than what I need, but that is what I like.
