I'm not knocking the 2320 at all, rather trying to help save this guy from having to trade up to the 2520 in 2 more years.

Didn't say you were knocking the 2320. All of these JD CUTs are great, for that matter so are most of the other brands. I should have bought mine three years ago; it would have saved my little JD120 a whole lot of wear and tear it was never designed for. Come to think of it buying it three years ago would have saved me a whole bunch of wear and tear I was never designed for either.

Glad you mentioned the tooth bar. We have clay soil here when wet it is heavy when dry it is like cement so I have a feeling we may end up with the tooth bar but going to try with out first.

I'm looking at a 5 ft. box blade, the 4 footer does not get past the wheels. Does your 2320 feel strong enough to pull a 5 foot box scraper, mainly is looser dirt not pulling up sod?

We have a lot of clay here to. The consistency goes from gooey to easy to work but heavy to dry and hard as a rock every spring. We are know officially at hard as a rock.

Don't have a box blade yet so I don't know if my tractor would pull a 5 foot box blade, you might have to take smaller "bites". Maybe this will help; I can pull a 14 inch Rankin ripper tooth sunk to the hilt as long as I go slow and have the tractor at about 2600 or 2800 rpm in low range on the hydrostatic drive. That rips through the clay and the lava, when it gets to a big chunk of granite or basalt we do come to a halt though. Love that tool, I hardly know where the pick axe I used to dig trenches with is anymore.

Argh!!!hate it when my finger hits the "Post" button before my brain can say woah!

About the toothbar. JD does not make one for the 53 inch bucket if that is what you are thinking of getting. Mine is an ATI with 7 replaceable teeth that is very heavy duty, and priced that way to. If I had to do it over again I would probably get a Markham, good solid equipment at a reasonable price. I would still go for the 7 teeth again vs. the 5 that are standard.

Go as large as you can afford with money and space. I went from a 4100 to a 4310, with less hours and 2 years youndger and it works like a charm. Yes the 300CX loader is a bear to try to move, but it does have quite a bit of lifting power!

The 2320 showed up unexpectedly today. Was not to be in until next week. The ID tag shows June 16 or 18 so it must be a recent build.

I only had a couple hours to play on the new toy and I found that I could not ask for more out of a CUT. I was able to push it hard into the clay soil and it could handle a full bucket load of dirt with out even the slightest wimper. I do not have any rear counter weight at this time but fluid or rear weight would help a little.

I had just mowed half of our yard with the garden tractor so I have not timed mowing with the 2320 which has the same size deck as the garden tractor but I would guess from the mowing I did do, I will cut the time from 3 hours to 2.5 hours if not even more. Not sure if this is good or bad as the 2320 handles the rough terrain much better than a garden tractor making it much more pleasent to spend time on it.

The next decision is will it handle a 4 foot or 5 foot boxscraper? Has any one out there tried one of each yet?

I agree the price does seem high. I traded a 2004 Kubota BX2230 with deck and loader and 200 hours on it for a new JD2320, 200CX loader, and 62D deck for $6,000.

I am very glad I did the upgrade just for the drive over deck and the heavier duty 3 point hitch . My KK 48" tiller at close to 600 lbs was a little too heavy on the Kubota.

Stone1, congrats on getting your tractor early! I'm on the road today, but my lovely wife informs me my new toothbar arrived via UPS.

I'm eager to hear what you find out about 4' vs. 5' box blades.
