Traded off the 790

Great commentary Roy. Thanks.
Do you find more room to move around on the new tractor? My JD 790 is really snug since I'm over 6 ft and 200 lbs. Even the backhoe--JD #7-- is cramped.
I know what you mean about the casting but have never seen a broken one. Not that I look all that hard but I live near a large farm aution yard as well as a mega Deere dealer and can't recall any cracks. Deere seems to figure this stuff out in advance.
Have you done much in the way of work with this? Much seat time or any projects? Have you had to do much in the way of service or upgrading anything?

Definitely more room then the 790, but I'm fairly lean so I can't say I had any problems with the 790. I do have a bum leg and the flat deck of the 4400 is easier to drag it over (no transmission hump).
No major projects, so far...they were done years ago. I do need to brush cut the field next door, but it's been way too hot and dry for that.
Service was done prior to delivery, so I'll be good until next season. Just the usual greasing the zerks and spraying all linkages.
Won't be any mods or upgrades other then underarmor (if I can find it) and the rear tires were turned around(thanks to Arribil!!!!) for more clearance to install rear tire chains.

For Nuru, RobS and Rob-D:
I did try out a 3320 Reverser (open station) a couple years ago. I really liked that machine, but not enough to go into debt for it. The 4400 was bought at a really good price and got a great trade on the 790.
I do wish I'd kept that Befco 60" RFM sometimes...this 84" RFM is freakin' huge and I need to be very careful going in and out of the garage (maybe an inch clearance on both sides). That bigger mower is also about 300 lbs heavier then then 60" mower. Even with the 4 tires, it's a bear to push around manually.

As far as manliness...well, as long as it's got a clutch, it's manly (not as manly as a clutch and vertical exhaust though).
