thanks, Rj. I have driven one on a dealer's lot and done some research....the range-shift on the fly is indeed awesome....much roomier cab with better visibility/access ...and many more improvements overall. Think it's a good pick to replace my 4610. The one thing that I have a little concern with is the new emissions and something called DPF. I have a Kubota tech friend that told me those tractors shouldn't be left idling for long periods.... It's better to be working.....and this DPF thing might need to be replaced ( not too often...maybe once in 5000 hrs ) and a 'reset' would need to be done ( only the dealer can do? ) I know next to nothing about all this...so if anyone can offer some insight that would be great
The Tier4 emission dpf has been problematic on 2 Kubota machines that I am aware of - the B3350 and ZD1511. They are both mechanically injected, where the L4060 is common rail computer controlled if my understanding is correct.
My L4060 has been problem free, and no Regen issues over 500 hours. I just had my 9th Regen, with an average of 56 hours between and lasting 12-15 minutes. They have all been while using the machine, and other than the Regen light I don't notice anything.
Idling for long periods is not recommended. For non pto work I generally set the throttle lever at 1500 rpm and let the auto throttle advance do it's thing. If I'm off the tractor for 5 minutes or so, I shut it down.
I believe the dpf canister gets cleaned (dealer) every 3000 hours, for $300-400.
