kubota rtv900: kubota mx5200
looking for all opinions for if I should trade up to a larger tractor or not. I have been fortunate to have owned 2 Kubota tractors for a couple years now, a 2007 Kubota B7800 with la402 loader (1500 hours) and a 2012 Kubota B3200 with a 60" mmm and full set of front weights (500 hours). both tractors have rear work lights and are in EXCELLENT condition. everything has been maintained to the book and they have very few blemishes and such. both tractors work GREAT. i bought the b7800 for property maintenance with a 5 ft bush hog. started a firewood and mowing business with it about 7 years ago and then bought the b3200 to compliment the b7800 in that same business. both tractors do the jobs, but i didn't look before i leaped so to say, and the lawn mowing part of the business hasn't taken off like i wanted it to. the firewood end has exploded and so has the bush hog jobs. i do have a simplicity zero turn i can mow lawns with. the b series tractors do the firewood ok and handle my 3ph winch, but a larger heavier tractor would do more, (so would a skidder, but that is not where i want this to go.=like to be versatile.) i struggle with the tractors being a little to light and am tired of "stuffing" them "both" into the shed. i still owe about 11k on the b3200 and mmm. i was thinking i would trade both b series tractors in and come home with a L3800 hst with loader, rear remotes, rear work lights, tire chains for the r-4 tires, and clear my loan with Kubota credit corp. these may be high expectations, but maybe not. they get 2 tractors and i only get 1 bigger one. i think having just the 1 larger tractor will simplify things for me and save me some money alng the way. i need all the advice i can get, so all opinions will be considered. i hate to get rid of the 2 tractors, they have been excellent but.... what do you all think. i am just in the beginning phases of this so i have not studied the L3800 too much but if i do this i do want to stay with Kubota. thanks again in advance.

You need to EDIT POST and create paragraphs.

Yeessh Jeff, kind of harsh:

I can see your need for a larger tractor, but I'd say you will still have a loan out on your new one. Let us know how you make out.

I to think there are some "to harsh" members. I was able to read the entire post, did read the entire post and am glad to respond to the post. I also taught College classes for 6 years and a high school class one semester so maybe that helped me to be able to read it without trying to grade it or "teach" English/writing class here on the tractor owners forum. Is that to harsh?
I owned a B7800 for 3 years and did lots of work with it. Decided I needed bigger and more deluxe features after hearing the "bigger is better" puffing for a while. Traded to a Grand L 3240HST+ to do my hillside, rocky, treed, gullied 5 acres. The L weighed twice what the B7800 weighed and the seat on the L was way higher off the ground. The higher off the ground scared me and the same HP for a twice heavier machine was also a disappointment. Hauling (trailering) an L instead of a B was also quit a bit more formidable. After 6 months or so, maybe a year (guess my/you critics have stopped reading by now, due to long paragraph, which is OK with me ) I traded the Grand L3240HST+ to a B3200. I also owned BXs during this time which I used for mowing until I bought my first F mower.
(Next paragraph) The L was a great flatland traction gripping machine. If I plowed flat land, never had to move it from property to property and needed more traction, the L would be the preference. If I was going from a B with 31/32HP to a quite heavier L I'd want to step up to more HP than I did which I see you are proposing/pondering.
(Obviously new paragraph, not sure the last one broke so obviously) Going from 2 tractors to one will also bring some vexing issues. I've owned a couple before to save switching implements and it sure was time and back saving.
OK, grade for spelling? Syntax? Proper grammer? Last of all, by some critics, content. Oops, also clarity? I know the content and clarity doesn't mean much to the "graders" but that's life and the chances one takes when they deal with the anonymous public that aren't dealing with people face to face, just hiding behind a fake name. To harsh again? :cool2:

Sounds like you are on too something. Bigger is better when it comes to pulling and lifting. Make sure you buy a tractor with a lot of weight.
As far as trading two tractors for one, I don't know how good a deal you are going to get as you owe the better part of one tractor too the bank. Call up your dealer and see what they can do. Happy hunting.

crunch your numbers carefully. Can you lock the interest rate?

Keep one of the smaller ones and trade the other for larger.

I like having two Kubotas and love the L3800DT!!

If you don't trade pretty soon aren't you going to be looking at the new L3901 instead of the L3800? Does your dealer still have L3800's in stock? Of course the Tier 4 complaint L3901 will be more dollars than the L3800 was.
