Trading up from a 2210 to ?? (3x20?)

Thanks WV.

My 10 acres are pretty flat. I put about 6 hours on the 3320 today. Mowing, picking up trash and tree limbs, and ripping out some old fence and posts. Even got her muddy in some areas that never seem to dry out! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have no complaints yet. As I said before, the HST beats my old Ford gears hands down.

Well, my JD dealer called today with his trade-in quote: for 2210, 210 loader, 62MMM, and 4'bushhog blade=$11000 with 40 hours. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
That about sealed it. I'm putting it on ebay Sunday or Monday.
On the flip side, I'm leaning strong towards a 4410 with 300cx and MX6 with R4's. We'll see what kind of quotes I can get. I'm asking for similarly equipped 3520's, but .... $$.
Thanks all for the inputs so far!

John

I'm guessing you should get $12k-12.5k for your setup on ebay.

As for me and my previous post, I'm okay with $10k on a trade because I'm one of the many who broke the plastic transaxle fan. Yup, the $7 fan with a $300-$500 labor bill. For me, it's not worth having it fixed and then sell it privately to make a couple hundred bucks. I'm happy with my trade.

Good luck with the 4410 pricing.

How'd the fan get K.O.ed?

I was moving some rocks with the loader and a stick got wedged in the undercarriage. Thump...thump....thump...thump... and it was missing four fan blades.

Fargo -- yeah, that's the price I'm thinking on ebay, too. Too bad about the fan. I haven't had the 2210 long enough to have even heard of that one (thankfully). Good luck with your 3720 quest. Know that I'll be jealous /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I just received some dimension info on the 3120-3720 tractors, and it is giving me a ROPS height of 91.8". I would like that height of 83.7" as listed in the brochure. That 83.7" would fit through my 88" garage doors.

If the 91.8" is the true height (one of the two numbers has to be wrong), then I will exchange my standard ROPS with the new foldable ROPS, as they seem to fit on each tractor (my 4300 and the new 3520). I measured everything but the height today, but didn't have a 3520 with the R-4 Industrial tires, so didn't bother with the overall height measurement, when I test drove for my glove order. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The foldable ROPS is the standard/only ROPS available on the 3x20 series.

John, congrats on the move to WV, beautiful state.

Just a little food for thought on the tractor choice - since it's so easy for us to spend other TBN'ers money!

You might want to consider going all the way to a large frame CUT, say a 4120, instead of one of the 3000-Twenties. You may not need any more hp than the 3320/3520 delivers, but you'll get a lot more size and probably stability with the bigger machine on your hills.

Example - while the rear tire position is usually adjustable, most compacts don't allow for much if any adjustment on the front axle width (tread) setting - and the large frame units are much wider than the mid-size (9 inch wider tread, 56.7" vs. 46 .4"). They also weigh 800 lbs. more (not a problem since you're not worried about lawns) and have a slighly longer wheelbase. All of that should give you more stability swinging heavy attachments around.

That's backed up by the Deere implement ratings - while more than one mid-size JD owner here is using a fairly heavy six-foot rotary mower with their tractor - on paper Deere says the 3520 can't handle the MX6. Not that the power isn't there for most cutting - the tractor balance/sheer mass isn't there. Check out the implement code charts in the on-line manuals.

Of course a 4120 is going to be the best part of $3K more than a 3520 - and that would go a long way to buying new implements - but in the long run you might not miss the extra up-front cost. Test drive both at the dealer when you're looking. Personally I didn't find the large frame seemed to lose much in manuverability.

Just a thought.

Yes, unfortunately I realize that. Just an 'option' that Deere has decided to drop (probably to cut costs which supposedly is good for me).
I am hoping the spec sheet is wrong, and the brochure is right, and I don't have to bother trading my fixed ROPS from my 4300 with the folding ROPS on the 3520. But I won't have a ROPS that will not fit in my 7'4" garage door (that is an accident waiting to happen and I won't take the chance). I will cut and weld the folding ROPS if that is necessary, but don't want to do that.
