I'm curious how the 3.5 Ecoboost tows...supposed to do well but I'm accustomed to a Diesel and V10.
I’ve never owned a diesel, and I don’t know much about them. I’m not sure if you are referring to two different options or a single diesel truck with a V10.

My previous truck was a 1999 F-250 with a V10 gas. Current truck is a 2012 F-250 with a V8 gas. The new truck has more power and tows nicer than the old one.

The biggest difference for me is a more intelligent automatic transmission. The old truck’s towing mode just disabled overdrive. So I went from a 4-speed to a 3-speed. The new truck will use all 6 speeds, depending on the conditions. It downshifts when going down a hill, and it’s pretty good about not oscillating between two gears.

My new truck is probably considered old technology these days, so I’ll also be curious about how you like your new one.

I have a 17 F350 diesel and a 17 F450 V10, the F450 gets the lion share of the heavy towing duty. I have had 3 V10s now, for some reason I think this one tows the best. It may be the 6 speed trans. The Diesel certainly pulls stronger and appears to work less pulling up hill..and gets better fuel mileage.t the dual rear wheels on the 450 are better for stability.

My 2016 F 150 has a 10-speed transmission, and tows nicely. Came with the factory brake controller - which was a $350 option. And that little dial that helps you "steer" your trailer when backing up - has anyone actually used it? When I saw that package of stripes that you have to stick on each trailer, so the truck can "see" where the trailer is, I said forget it! Now they are no doubt lost, as we have moved since I got the truck. Great concept, but a dumb way to actualize it.

I thought the 10 speed was introduced mid 2017 model year in the 150 ?

Oops! You are absolutely right! I think that I got mixed up about it when I was seeing the ads for the 2017, and then got a 2016. All this time I had mistakenly assumed that I already had the 10 speed.

I'm told the 6 speed is a great match with the 3.5 and towing. Some owners have complained that the first round of 10 speeds with the 3.5 did a lot of shifting and some clunky downshifting while towing.
