Ditzel hit the nail on the head. You have to add the tongue length to the deck length. A trailer that will fit in your garage will probably be too short to put your tractor on.

Yep, my 18' trailer is about 23' long.

Also, measure your garage door width. My trailer is every bit of 8'6" wide with 82" between the fenders. I store it in my barn and my door that I use is 9' wide. Its about impossible to back it in with a truck. Much easier with the tractor but I bet there is not 1.5" of clearance on each fender.

I've found a few 18' trailers with a total length of 22' which would give me a whopping 4" or 2" per end clearance.

My garage door is 16' wide and the 68" wide tractor and an 8'6" wide trailer would still give me a touch over a foot and one half or six inches between the edges of the door and the tractor and trailer.

The garage storage has to happen for about 18 months at which time I'll be able to afford a secure shed out at the ranch.

Not sure where your from (please fill out the profile).....but I just park my trailer outside and keep a lock on the gate. Paint the wood deck with some drain oil, and it will last a long time.

I realize security may be different elsewhere, but the trailer can certainly handle a little weather. If you don't have secure space for a year or two.....maybe you could rent the space from someone else....or buy good locks and cable?

I got a few trailers and implements that gotta sit outside. To build storage for low-cost implements or large-size stuff like trailers is cost prohibitive.

As far as how far in you back the thing, get some of those rubber parking mats like this: Parking Guide - Park Smart? Parking Mat | Organize.com you can buy them practically anywhere.

If you change your mind about parking it inside, this is a good lock: Amazon.com: Reese Towpower 72783 Universal Coupler Lock: Automotive it is not thief-proof but if you have ever had to cut a lock like that you already know it's nearly impossible without a power tool or a torch.

The dust has settled and I have money down on the unit.

I'm going with a 3720 with eHydro after hearing feedback on the auto HST and in fact my salesman said it's no longer available anyway...no one was buying it. Something about the loader loosing driving force while digging because of the "go" pedal design.

I'm having it delivered with an M & M Ranch Rake (grapple) and Tree Snip, and an MX-5. It'll will ride on a 17' car hauler trailer leaving 9" on either end in the garage. I gave it a lot of thought but I have access to a 22' trailer for occasional use but requires coordination and pickup. I'm fairly confident I can get everything on the 17' trailer. It has dual 5200# axles - one with brakes. I'll be keeping a boom in the truck to load and unload stuff off the trailer but really don't see hauling everything at once. I'll rotate cutting trees one week and piling the next. The mower will likely see the least use but my ZTR has actually shed hardware mowing trails and has asked to be relieved of ranch duty.

We've settled on what we want to do agriculturally. With the Red Cedar gone, we'll try developing an orchard. The PO of the ranch had put in black walnut but didn't keep it up and they haven't taken off.

I am not sure exactly what you're asking but I can tell what I have found.

I have a 3720 with 300cx loader and an lx6 cutter. The loader, tractor and any small attachment fit perfectly on a 16' car-hauler with enough room to balance the load. Add the rotary cutter and it hangs off the back 4' with tractor pulled full forward.

I should have followed the TBN advice I originally got on trailer size. "Buy more trailer then you think you will need." Suggest you do the same as I will be buying a 24'+ Gooseneck as soon as I find a great deal on a used one.

Good Luck!
