Texas,
That looks great. Want to sell a set of your plans and materials list? I'm wanting to build something just like that. Where did you get the steel from?
Believe it or not it was 50$ cheaper to build out of steel, Having it galvanized brought it up to 200$ more than wood.
The building that we replaced was 20 x 20 this one is 24 x 34
but the old building had treated (laughter) 4x4 posts that rotted out at ground level so I decided to go steel and concrete. Concrete footings with the I-beams bolted down and the building is basically a home made kit building. All the I-beams bolted together and the 8" purlins bolted in place.
The metal and roofing came from http://muellerinc.com We plan on adding 4 ft sides up at the top to stop the blowing rain.
The thing that helped the best was that I did all the fitting and squaring at ground level before hoisting the bents in place
I made false base plates and bolted them down then fitted the rest of the building including some of the roofing metal. This allowed me to predrill the roofing. This actually is a good way to premark it.
The pitch is 3/12. Thats about as steep as I would work on a steel roof without some sort of safety harness!!! New steel roofing does get slick !!! Heights usually do not bother me but the resulting fall does LOL. Where I work we have several work areas that are 270 ft tall with grating floors. Luckly the horse trailer made a perfect scaffloding to get the purlins in place and install the first 2 sheets of roofing. Then I was able to get on the sheeting. As big as I am I like a solid area to work on. Here is a pic of us setting the first bent in place.
