Trailer Enclosure Build Advice

/ Trailer Enclosure Build Advice #11
I once was considering building a teardrop camper trailer. There was a forum for it but I don't recall exactly. Google it if you're interested. It might give you some ideas for light weight construction methods.

I think i would use 2x2 and 2x4 s to make a cross braced webbing including triangles then glue and screw 1/4" plywood skin on it. And either make an inside skin the same or gusset the joints with glued 1/4" plywood.

Another thought, lately I've been looking at home made airplane plans and kits. Look at some techniques they use for wooden frames. They are of course light weight and at the same time travel at high speeds.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I'm liking the tarp it and go idea more and more. I won't be able to get as much stuff on the trailer that way, but maybe that's a good thing. I better start getting rid of stuff....I'll start with the gf's stuff

Rent an enclosed uhaul truck for the stuff you want dry and tow the trailer behind it with stuff you don't care if it gets wet.

On my 6 x 10ft open trailer with 14" open sides, I fastened 1/2" exterior plywood to sides and front. Then I bent 3/4" emt for studs and rafters. Then I sheeted it with metal barn roofing. It is used around town, not on the freeway. I would consider 1" emt but it takes more to bend. I can try for better pictures if you need them. I have hauled stuff several times that I needed to tarp but I hate flapping tarps. I first cover with a waterproof tarp and then cover that with a mesh tarp. Keeps everything from flapping in the wind.
