OK. On page 9/24 of this brochure it describes the towing capacity. It would not let me copy and paste the info but you can look it up.

So, I have to back track and say my prior statements were based on what someone else said about the vehicle not being recommended for towing.

Looks like that was definitely incorrect. In fact he may have the ultimate towing vehicle rated at 7500 pounds.

Now just to help him find what all he needs to do it.

He's talking less than 5klbs, with a 7500lb capacity. That should be sufficient. If he was pushing 7klbs, maybe it would be getting questionable.

I've likely missed at, and can't find it, but what class hitch is factory installed on that vehicle. I know a guy with a linc vavigtor that had a class II hitch.. Yikes! the caddy xover that my mom drives has the same.. class II lil hitch..

Yeah. We pulled all kinds of stuff without trailer brakes and with only a half ton truck. Some pretty heavy loads to Farmers Market in Houston. Never worried too much about it but then again nobody was saying our vehicles were not suitable for towing. And, back then there wasn't the legal and enforcement climate there is today.

What is he going to do if there is an accident while he s towing and thru find out his tow vehicle is declared by the manuf. Not suitable for towing?

I'm not saying you are not correct. I agree it ma be possible for him to tow with that vehicle. Just may not be the best idea.

There is no reason his vehicle with its current setup suspension, power train, ect can not tow what he wants.

I just did a little research on the OP's vehcile. Data sez that it comes with a class IV hitch and 7500 tow capacity.

I think he needs to get a brake controller and he is good to go! Nice vehicle!

I tow with a similar size 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. (same hitch and weight capacity....only has a hemi gas engine) Mine tows my tractor or a large boat beautifully. :thumbsup:

Make sure you buy the right ball mount (receiver rated at 7500#) and ball.
