Trailer for towing tractor

Just bought a NH TC45D w/FEL, 6' BH & Tiller. Drive a Chevy Suburban (1/2 w/tow package). Have read all the responses and am still looking at options. Am looking for a trailer in the double axle w/brakes, 18-20 ft. range, 6-6 1/2' width. Would like to mount a (20-30 gal. diesel tank) on the trailer as well. Any suggestions on brands and whether the Suburban can handle it. Majority of hauls will be less than 25 miles (once or twice a year in range of 200 mi). Thanks!

Sounds like you're in about the same situation I am. I'm about to take delivery on a TC45 w/FEL etc and I've been looking at trailers to haul my tractor about 6 miles 5-6 times during the year and 250 miles once or twice in the next 5 years. What I've found is a 7' X 18' flatbed with a wrap tongue, slip in ramps, 2" bulldog hitch, made with 5" channel on the outside and 3" channel cross members. It's rated at 7000#, brakes on 1 axle, and one nice thing that was different than most - the lights are mounted IN the frame and away from the danger of getting hit. Most the trailers around here have the lights hanging on a bracket mounted off the sides at the rear. I know how easy it is to break 'em there from helping a friend haul hay - had a bale drop off the top and broke the light and bent the bracket. They want $1600 for it - and I'm ready. It will most likely get used as a moving van more than a tractor hauler - kid's just can't seem to stay put. It doesn't have any side rails - but has stake pockets which will be handy for building 6' high sides for doing that moving.

The attached pic shows 'Grumpy' on an 18 ft car hauler that I bought new for $900., it had GVW of 7000#, and w/modifications totaled out to $1150. (mod included a used single 3500# rated axle with elect. brakes. The two foot extra length is very nice when you want to load up and go with the FEL and boxblade (as shown) installed. Saves time and grumbles.

Thanks for the info. Who manufactures the trailer you looking at? I've looked at quite a few trailers around here (SW Indiana). Most of what I've looked at seem a little lite in the frame department. am almost to point where I may make a road trip to Sikeston, MO. to shop at JaMar (though not wild about the 4-5 hours each way. Agree that I like the extra width at 7' wide, though a bit nervous as I have about 3 miles of 1 1/2 lane wide road (with the obligatory 3 ft' ditch on each side) to navigate to get to pavement.

To tell ya the truth I'm not sure who makes 'em - but American Fence & Supply sells 'em. I don't know if that's a national company or not - they have 3 sites near me and a web page http://www.afence.com that I haven't looked at yet. No need to I guess 'cause they're just 1/2 mile from my office.

Here's a trailer company in Canada. Near Toronto and Niagara Falls. Stopped by to see how they build their trailers last week. A very well made trailer and 1/3 off with the exchange rate for Canadian dollars./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
