Yes, I tried and it's very smooth. But I didn't worry about that because last year I loaded a pallet of stones (4100 lbs) and it was ok (I was a bit over recommendations though). I have a load "limit" of 5000 lbs for the truck and 7000 lbs for the trailer. The trailer's weight is 1200 lbs. So I'm ok. About the vehicle, it's a V8 engine 290HP (at the wheels). The truck's weight is around 5000 lbs and the breaks on the trailer do a great job. That's what I like with Kubota, I don't need to change my truck to get a powerful tractor as a B3030. I looked at Case and John Deere... Ohh boy... we're not talking about the same weight. But I don't need a heavy machine.

I chose 16' last year because I owned a BX23 at that time. 16' for a BX23 is great. 16' for a B3030 is a bit small.

Definitely, 18' is a better choice than 16'. I didn't know until I tried today. With the backhoe on the bed you won't have spare room. If you swing it you'll get an extra 32" maybe.

I agree with you DaNag. I had a 16' tandam with the lift gate that I bought a year and a half ago. I knew, then, that I was going to get a tractor down the road. The problem was, I bought a larger tractor than I anticipated. With the FEL and the 5' brushhog on the B3030 tractor, I needed 20' to fit with no hassles. Thats what I got. I could have bought an 18' or even put the bucket in the air to fit my 16', but the 20' wasn't much more. It will fit larger tractors if needed, down the road. I can put other items on it if needed. I went ahead and got brakes on both axles and the last two feet are dovetailed.

Stef, who makes that trailer? Is that aluminum?

I will have a box blade on the back instead of a BH, so I think 16 feet should be long enough for me. Does your MMM rub over the top of the ramp as you're loading?

Also, I noticed from your profile that you got pallet forks. I got a price for the ATI fork for skid steer QA, which I'm getting from ATI, but they want what seems like a lot of money, some $966, for forks with frame that weigh 224 lbs. They may be over-designed for what I can use, since the LA403 only has an 800 lbs lifting capacity. Did you get the Kubota forks? How much did they cost and weigh?

It's made of aluminum. The brand name here in Canada is Cargo Mate and it's made by Forest River (Elkhart, IN).

I didn't use the tailgate to load the tractor because I have 8' steel ramps tucked beneath the bed. I wasn't sure about the tailgate. Aluminum is not as strong as steel and I feared that it could maybe bend a bit. I used the tailgate to load a BX23 though (without the backhoe because the angle of departure on a BX23 is too small). All I know is the MMM didn't rub. As I said, I didn't try directly with the tailgate. In fact, I'll probably remove it.

For the question about the forks I'll answer to it in my thread: B3030 arrival. (for the respect of this thread /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )

I'm sorry, in my first post I talked about the trailer of my dealer and I just saw that the pic wasn't there.

Here it is... the guy told me 19'. It must be 20' (19'?? I've never heard of that length).

Tried searching but couldn't find the info -- what would the minimum trailer length be to carry a B3030 w/FEL & Backhoe (with nothing hanging over the trailer end)?

Thanks

Also can anyone recommend a good dealer for trailers in the midatlantic area?

I have the same set-up and use a 16" beaver tail ...works pretty good.

I want to get rid of the equip trailer and get the smallest low profile dump to take it's place.

I pull with a 2007 F150 5.4L 4x4 so I want to keep it as light as possible.

The Tractor, BH, & FEL are approx 3800lbs.
It measures about 16' from the front of the FEL to the back of BH.

I think I can set the FEL on the front of the trailer, Leave the barn doors open and turn the BH.

What would be the smallest trailer I should consider?

6x10, 6x12, 6x14??
7000lb, or 10,000lb?
