That reminds me, I read on Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum that you have to install a fuse somewhere under the hood to make the factory trailer brake wiring work, but mine worked by just plugging in the controller (at least the controller lights up, not sure if it actually works or not). I think it was a change in the truck somewhere between the first Super Duties and my 2004.

Anyway, I was looking around under the hood to try and find the fuse, but was unsuccessful in locating it. For any of you that might have a Super Duty, can you point me to exactly where the trailer brake controller fuse is located? A picture would be worth 1,000 words.

Thanks.

I know where it is on the Chevy (now). When I got my Ford I didn't have to look; already there. Go to a Ford enthusist web site; thats how I got the GM info or try the guys at etrailer;they're pretty good.

You shouldn't have to worry about any fuses. I installed my Prodigy, plugged it in and that was it... Instant brakes! It does a nice job of stopping my 31' 5th wheel and anything else I tow with my truck, especially when in tow/haul mode.

I've towed empty trailers & loaded ones. I just simply make minor adjustments to the Prodigy as needed at the time. Example: 5th wheel weighs in at about 12,000lbs fully loaded. Switch to tractor package that weighs in at about 7,000 lbs. Adjust Prodigy sensitivity down slightly. You're on your way!

On Fords some have to have a relay installed to make the charge circuit work. The brakes will always work. The charge circuit allows 12volts from the tow vehicle to the trailer and it will recharge any on board batteries for things like brake away kits and winch batteries. It is furnished along with the wiring harness on tow package equipped trucks.

On GM trucks you have to install a fuse to make this function work. It is usually not supplied. The cheapest place to get it as the dealer, not Napa or AutoZone.
