Don't know what the weight is as it is a home built. All I do know is it pulls and stops fine with the hemi Durango.

How can it have a weight rating if it's home built? Or are you just going by the axle ratings?

I'm going to guess you meant it is rated for 10,000 lb (5 ton) instead of 20,000 lb (10 ton)

That's my assumption as well.

To the OP, get a 10K trailer with four wheel brakes. Since you are pulling with little cushion in regards to the tow vehicle's capacity you need the trailer to do it's part. Forget the cheesy Walmart ST tires. Get some good (a brand you have actually heard of) 8ply (D rating) or 10ply (E rating) tires. Then enjoy many, many years of safer towing.

I know it has the higher axle ratings. The guy built trailers at his house and worked at a trailer sales place as a mechanic.

No need to guess. Fingers got 5 tons more excited on the key board. It is a 10K.
