Trailer size for B21

How long is a B21, what size trailer would I need?

Hi Bruce and welcome to TBN.

Get a 16' or larger, the 16 foot will be fine for the TLB, but you never know what you'll get for attachments , you may need more room.

I found a great deal on a 7'x14' with electric brakes. Do you think it would work the TLB without extra attachments?

I went out and measured my B21 and with the front bucket on the ground and measuring to the rear of the backhoe bucket I get about 16ft. 6in. and it's a little less than 5 ft wide. So unless you want some of the tractor hanging off then get at least a 17 ft. long trailer.

You may already know this but I didn't until I started trailer shopping. Get dual axels, I started asking people about which trailer to get and several told me to make sure it was dual axel instead of a single axle but they didn't know why except for weight capacity. A single for weight capacity would have worked for me. Finally my brother in law who does alot of trailering cars and heavy industrial machinery told me why to get the double axle. If a tire goes down on a single axel you can be in deep dookie where a dual will probably keep you going till you can get it fixed. I bought dual axel.

You may be able to angle the backhoe hoe bucket off to one side and shorten the overall length of the tractor. Not sure if you would gain enough to fit the 14' ?

Another reason for dual axles is if you have a blowout at hwy speed w/ a single axle and close to 2 tons of trailer/tractor fishtailing behind you, you will learn the true meaning of a panic stop.

I have an old horse trailer I am thinking of cutting the top off and adding to the length to haul my BX. It would keep the center of gravity low and it is duel axl.
