trailer size for JD 4005 with bush hog pulling with F150

Have an F150. Need to get trailer long enough to fit a JD 4005 (129 inches long) and a woods 5 ft bush hog. Not sure how long it is yet as I don't have tractor yet.

I had a massey ferg 240 and with bush hog.....it was too long for 16 ft trailer. Looking to upgrade trailer and not sure whether to get 18 or 20 ft.

Thinking of a 16 ft with 2 ft dovetail......
Don't want overkill of trailer but want it to be big enough to safely transport.

Tractor has front end loader.

Measure out the rig and add 2' minimum.

You may wish to have a bit extra length in order to balance your load so you don't overload your F150. I would be looking at a 20 foot trailer. This will give you about 3 feet fore and aft to center your load and get the needed (but not too much) tongue weight.

I suggest you hold off buying the trailer until you get your tractor and rotary cutter.
The 4005 (was 990) has enough PTO HP for a 6' cutter, by the way.
