Yes i see the difficulties. I think in the dutch law, there was an exclusion to the rule if a bump bar would disallow the trailer from functioning. However, this bump bar thing is a big issue when we get a new trailer for approval to the traffic authority office.
The tilt beds, or drop dovetails we have here, have a 1 meter tailgate to get onto the bump bar and lighting channel, which is about a foot high.
