Trailer tire tread decided to unzip on me

8 year old Chinese trailer tire delaminated on me guessing because of age and driving too fast. Happened at a good time though. Sunny, 78 degrees and close to home. I was able to limp to a truck stop and a buddy lives close by with a cordless impact so changing out the tire was a breeze. Took the trailer home where it sits now until I get a new set of tires for it.

Recently had the belts start coming through the center of an otherwise good tread on the tires of a tow behind lift. It was a 2006, and I've owned it for the last 7 years. Could be OE for all I know.
Fortunately for me a friend was renting it when it happened and it was just down the road from a place that sold tires. He paid for 2 new replacements as part of his equipment rental. Everyone was happy.

How did you know?

Truck had a slight vibration then saw the carcass come out from the rear of the trailer. That and with 8 year old tires was expecting it at some point.

I agree ( I know some prefer the ST trailor tires but I have had much better performance out of the truck tires)

Get Greenball ST tires and you will be all set. Get them balance and High Pressure Valve Stems!

Took this advice a couple of years ago for my 7x18 enclosed trailer for the business. So far, so good with them. Local Sam's Club has them but not a large selection on size.
