I'm gettig ready to buy a TC 40 and have bought a 14,000 gvw tilt bed trailer to haul it with. Got a good deal. Anyway, I'm wanting to get the chains to secure secure the tractor and attachments.
I plan on buying 3/8" DOT approved Grade 70 Transport chain, but I'm not sure what lengths to get. Don't want to underestimate the lengths, but don't want to have to spent alot of extra cash either ($3.75/ft).
As I understand it, I have to have one chain across the FEL and one across the bush hog. The tractor needs 2 lines on each side wrapped around the frame (4 total).
The trailer is 8' 6" wide.
How long should the front and back chains be? I was thinking 12'-15' to make sure there's enough slack to go over the attachments and to allow a loop on each end with a grab hook.
On the frame chains, I was thinking that that 8' would be enough, with grab hooks and a loop on each end.
Does that sound about right? I'll be using 6 rachet binders, one for each chain.
Any help would be most appreciated. I really don't want to use rachet straps.
Thanks.
Andy
