Grading trails in the hills

Where are all the trees, lol. Nice looking views. You may want to just make a trail for the tractor on the less step areas and just the rest just a simple foot path to hike on.

You could always get quads for running the trails. That's what we do. It's faster too.

I have the hills I make trails on and if I can't find a way straight up and down I don't do it. In some places I may not get as close to a spot as I wanted to but usually once I get to the top I can manage to get back toward the area I wanted. If I didn't have the seat belt on going down some hills I wouldn't be able to stay on the tractor. Just because you can go there with a tractor doesn't mean you can make it with a 4WD ATV. If you want to know how I know just ask.

I have a steep hillside that had grown up with extremely dense brush, briars and small trees and with gully washes that were dangerously steep and hard to deal with since I couldn't see where I was getting into until I was already there. In comes Roy Vice with his front track loader. He did me side to side roads/trails/paths with drop downs at each end to tie them all together. He also moved a big pile of top soil up the hill and moved some almost bolders that I couldn't move with my tractor.
$650 later I have these fantastic roads/trails/paths or they will be when I get them dressed up with my equipment. A dozer would have been quicker but he had brought a track front loader for some work for my neighbor. He first cut them a bit steep and I had him go back over them to level the paths down for comfortable driving. Now I need a RTV900 to give my Grands rides on the trails.
Would have been extremely dangerous for me to have done and would have taken weeks. I had done some clearing myself with my Ratchetrake and it was butt clinching and very time consuming. Well spent $650.

Just be careful how steep you go down with the tractor.....I've gone down too steep a slope then couldn't back up due to wheel spin, even with 4x4 engaged. And oh yeah when that happens its too steep to turn around or you'll roll. Kinda slow pawing your way back up the hill with the backhoe:eek:

Dozer - much safer and can set up the basic trails. may want to look into renting if you feel comfortable or getting it done. Sure beats rolling the tractor or something worse
