Trained turtles?

Jim, I used to have 2 pet box turtles that lived for years in my chainlink fenced backyard. I would guess I had them for 4 or 5 years. They would come up for food when we fed the dogs in the evening.

I thought that was me posting. :thumbsup:

I used to have a box turtle that lived in my chainlink fenced backyard too. Had him about 4-5 years until my dad accidentally ran him over with the mower

He used to come into the back porch every morning and eat breakfast with my dog. He ate dog food, the dog would share. They sat there and ate together, funniest thing you ever saw.

Walked on around and there was DB.. with a (2# smaller bass) in his mouth. Too big to swallow but fins caught in side of mouth so cannot spit out. Both dead.

I've wondered how often that happens. About 1979-80, my two brothers, my dad, and I were on Lake Whitney in my boat and had tied up to a tree in the water to fish for crappie. After awhile we noticed something moving at the surface of the water a ways off and after talking about it and wondering just what it was, we untied and I eased the boat over there with the trolling motor and we scooped up a largemouth bass that had a perch stuck in his mouth that way. I think that bass was near death, but not quite. We got the perch out and put both of them in the live well. After about 30 minutes they both seemed health and lively and we turned them both loose and they took off. But there's no doubt they both would have died if we hadn't rescued them when we did.

When I was 10, I had a trained box turtle. I threw a ball and he would go fetch it. Unfortunately, I was 15 by the time he got back to me.:laughing:
