Right on the money.. Friends air down . Service replaced electronic board. $500.00, took 1 hour...
Must be common occurrence , as he brought board with him. My refrigerator went down. Electronic board $350 + service minimum. We used to talk about planned obsolesce. No plan needed.
I have worked on video games for years. From coin op PacMan to driving games. Complicated electronic board, $600 to $1200 if electrons tied to touch screen tv , bill validators coin slots, buttons etc. It's a crime, in my opinion, to over charge for essentially an on & off switch in furnace. I also believe it's not so much the service guy whose the rip off. IT"S THE MANUFACTURER and the IMPORTER......

If they change your board, demand the old one. I've heard it is usually a solenoid or capacitor or something and can usually be fixed with a small part and a solder job. Then you have a spare.
