Can anyone please tell me the correct capacity level for a 1977 YM 1300. 1 person told me there was a fluid level plug on the left side of the tranny, and another person said that some had a dipstick. mine has neither. I'm a Mechanic , so i know what i'm looking for , I think !

The last one I had , took 9.5 qt of JD 303.

The manual I have says 9.5 quarts for 4WD and 10 quarts for 2WD.

Subject: YM1300 Hydraulics


On the very bottom of the rear axle housing,
there is a yellow, horizontal, square plug. Will
removal of this plug drain the transmission, pto, rear
axle, and 3pt hitch? If not, where are the respective
drain plugs? Under the seat, there is a round screw-off
cap. Is this used to fill all the above mentioned
items? If not, please advise as to their locations. I
know of the rubber plug-in dip stick under the seat.
Is this for checking all the above systems? If not
please advise.
Also, what is/are the capacities of these
reservoirs. Thanks for anyones help. This is a great resource
for us that are less educated/experienced about these
fine little tractors."

This came from the old Yahoo forum... I don't know exactly where he is referring to, but I find it hard to believe they built a tractor without a trans. dipstick.
