I've got a Kioti straight shift (with shuttle). I'm thinking about changing out the trans/ hydralic fluid to Amsoil to help it shift better.

Has anyone done this? Which Amsoil did you use? And did it help the shifting,.. Or make no difference?
Thanks. :)

I've never used them in a tractor (I've never owned a tractor for that matter -- mine will be here I hope on Saturday), but I've seen synthetics generally work well in all kinds of other applications. I don't believe the naysayers, unless it happens to be the manufacturer, who claim synthetics are harmful. Given the chemistry (uniformity of molecules), I don't see how they can be anything but beneficial. I'm giving real serious thought to using synthetics in my new one. I'd be interested to hear any contrary thoughts.

MChalkley is a firm believer in Amsoil, as are several other members of the forum. You probably should have posted your question in the oil, fuel, and lubricants section and it would have probably been seen by more people and would have gotten more responses. My B2710 Kubota was HST instead of gear, but I changed the hydraulic oil to Amsoil just to see if I could tell a difference. I thought it might have been a bit quieter hydraulic whine, but maybe it was just wishful thinking, and Mark says he's done some testing and his equipment ran cooler. Maybe mine did, too, but I'm not sure. Personally, I think synthetics are as good as any other oil, but not worth the cost difference unless you live in extremely cold climate (and you'll notice that's just my personal opinion with which a lot of people disagree and some of them know more than I). And of course I don't like multi-level marketing by anyone, so I'm not likely to ever buy anymore Amsoil just for that reason, even though it's a good product.

Thansk for the replys. And thanks for moving to this forum, after I posted it I realised I was in the wrong forum!

After the tractor gets hot, is when the shuttle shift is hard to shift. I think I'll switch over to Amsoil this winter, and report back on the results.
