As my GF filed a change-of-address recently, we are being bombarded with snail mail of all kinds, much of what contains coupons and offers pertaining to "New residents" of the community we reside in. I cannot stop laughing over the sale insert we received from the local Denny's food chain today, as part of their special deal for new residents of the area reads: "Locally owned and operated...."
Do they actually think we are more likely to visit their restaurants if they are locally owned, versus whether they are owned by someone who resides in Outer Mongolia? Does it matter whether they are operated by staff who lives a block away, versus staff who live two counties distant? I think not.
