Transmission Cases

eagle107, that was my earlier question....that was never answered....the Axle is steel versus the transmission housing that is aluminum....right?

Sorry, I meant to say, I do not think the axle on the tractor is actually aluminum, it is the transmission housing that is aluminum.

Your right I did ask about trans cases, and the call it the rear axle, I know the axle shafts are steel.
It was the trans housing it was talking about being aluminum.

Guess it takes ----- to get a simple answer to a simple question, in this case, oldballs, The OP said aluminum axle twice, I had to read 4 pages to find out it's aluminum case, and since I'm here, aluminum case for a lawn tractor, sounds ok to me, but aluminum case on a bigger tractor, no way, especially it it has a FEL, and I wouldn't buy a wheel barrel with aluminum axle.
