I posted earlier regarding a B7500 transmission fluid leak and I am worried about the transmission. The tractor only has 6 hours on it and I got a leak. When I checked the dipstick it was bone dry. The tractor has been sitting for 12 hours. The question I have is if the dipstick is bone dry, how much fluid do you think it is low? Secondly, could I have done some harm to the transmission.

My worry is that when the dealer gets the tractor to repair it he will fix the leak and put some more fluid in and then I have a problem down the road.

I must sound like a real worrier but I am disappointed this happened after only 6 hours and one week. I had a lot of work planned this weekend and I won't be able to do anything until Monday when the dealer is in..

Dude, how bad is the leak?? Go get yourself some more fluid and top it off and go to it. You would be amazed how much fluid is actually in there and how little it takes to be missing for the dipstick not to register.
OK, assuming you do not top it off yourself, be there when the dealer uncorks the drain plugs or tops it off depending on his course of action, my bet is there is plenty of fluid in there and 6 hours with a slightly low level will hurt nothing--nothing at all. Cheer up, tractor dude, it's gonna be OK. J

Gus,
Try checking the fliud level twice. Remove the dip stick, install, and remove it again to check the fluid level. I swear when I initially pull out the stick, it sometimes seems totally dry. The second time gives the true reading.
I also doubt you lost very much fluid. Ever spill a 12 oz. beer, it makes a huge mess. You should remove the MMM and see if you can locate the leak. It should be pretty easy to spot on such a new machine. The dealer is going to have pull the MMM anyway.
First thing on Monday, ask your dealer for several (free) quarts of oil. I'd start by adding a pint at a time. If it's only a tad low, you should have no problems and return any surplus oil to the dealer after the leak is fixed. If it is indeed a gallon or so low, I'd ask for a loaner machine and some sort of extended warranty on the repair.
Keep us posted. Hopefully it's only a temporary inconvience.

You've got a little air in the dipstick tube holding the oil level down. When you pull the stick out the first time you let the air out and the oil level comes up; not necessarily common, but not unheard of either.

are u sure u have a leak? can u see fluid anyplace?i mean can u see it on the floor or on any part of the tractor? those dip sticks are very hard to see level on.if it is low it will be a dealer problem, no way a new machine should have a leak after so few hours. good to worry about it, better a worrier than a what the hell kinda guy. keep us informed.

There is fluid on the MMM and on the bottom of the tractor. The fluid has run from the front of the MMM where it looks like it drips to the rear of the tractor. The FWD shaft and parts of the frame have fluid on them. I did finally get a reading on the transmission dip stick after taking it in and out a few times. A couple of TBNers gave me that tip. They said that you can get air in the tube. It was about halfway between add and full. I will give you an update after the dealer looks at it. I am hoping that he can fix it here if it just a loose fitting.

The dipstick on my B7100 transmission is so shiny that I could never read it even in sunny weather, so I had to make one to be able to read the fluid level.

I took an old hex wrench with a handle on it that I used to set dwell on the old GM distributors. I put several coats of cold blue on it to get it nice and flat black. Now I pull the dipstick, insert the hex wrench and hold them beside each other. Then I can compare the fluid level with the full mark on the dipstick.

Works for me.
