Too bad the auto companies don't have warranty deals like the commercial truck OEM's. By using a synthetic trans and diff lubes, the OEM will increase the stock 500,000 mile component warranty to 750,000 mile on my semi trucks.

For my smaller stuff like pickups, jeeps, etc, I have grown real partial to the Amsoil ATF product for my automatics.

My 2011 Silverado has a tranny temp display on the dash along with other items. It also has a tranny cooler. It also has 2 electric fans which are temperature controlled (0, 1, or both as required) cooling the AC, tranny, and engine. So when in Dallas in sweltering heat and stop and go traffic, the fans keep things cool, including you inside. Great idea for GM.

GM only HAS to worry about 100,000 miles...beyond that; (1) it's YOUR problem, (2) they're off the hook, and (3) the stealer-ships MAKE money replacing expensive parts.. It doesn't matter if it's a bike, boat, car or truck dealership, they make the most money on service & repairs. GM does not want your truck to last, they want to sell you a new one.

Dexron. VI is what we now use in our older GM transmissions.

In traffic like that, what Trani temperatures are you seeing A) truck empty, B) loaded and/or towing ?

At the other end of the market (small gas tools) the same thing is going on with Stihl and I think Husqvarna now too - buy a 6 pack of their better synth mix oil when you buy a tool, and Stihl will extend the factory warranty. Husqvarna seems to now being doing something similar with pre-mix fuel.

Right at 210 which is where my engine temp needle is "stuck". Course on the tranny that's worst case, but on the engine, once it warms to 210 (which is straight up center on the gauge) it never moves. Usually it hangs in around 170 or less.

Separate answer to a comment about GM, only having to worry about 100k miles, remember when they had no warranty and then the standard for a couple of decades or so was 36k. I find the current number a blessing attesting to what the OEM thinks of his product.
