Transmission Hydraulic Fluid Recommendation

/ Transmission Hydraulic Fluid Recommendation #11
The manual for my 7360 says nothing about synthetic, only hytran. The nearest CC dealer (Abbott) wants your first born for a five-gallon pail of hytran. I buy mine from the local Kubota dealer (Wescott) and it is much more reasonable. Plus, I figure if it is of sufficient quality for Kubota's warranty, then I can't go wrong in my Cub.

I am very disappointed that either CC or Mitsubishi wants extraordinary prices for hydraulic filters. Since we have not found any cross-reference to a WIX number, I am stuck. I'm not willing to pick another filter based on it's size, without knowing that I am meeting the internal specs (like filtration and by-pass pressure).

Try calling Waterman's in Sabattus. They are the most reasonable priced as far as filters go. Equipment is another story...
I wouldn't buy an empty soda can from you know who. They have the WORST customer service. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
I think I used Deere 90 weight in my front end this past Spring. I had the same reasoning as you: if it's good enough for a Deere, it oughtta be good enough for a Cub...

Rozett,

I'm with you I just double checked my Cub manual, nothing about a Synthetic Oil and I've never received anything from them telling me I should use it. Maybe the newer Cubs require the Synthetic, not the older models. I will check with Wescott's just for the heck of it to see what he carries and price. I like talking to the older Wescott, Dana I think is his name but there is another salesman there, maybe a son, which I don't care for to much.

One other thing on the Cub brand of oil. I did a search on HyTran, and came up with: http://www.viscosityoil.com/products.htm. It almost looks like this outfit makes both the HyTran and the Cub oils as well as for other manufacturers. Probably the HyTran "is" the Cub brand under the Cub label. I just looked at an old quart bottle I have of the CC brand and it only says "Hydraulic/Transmission Fluid" manufactured for Cub Cadet Corporation.
