Transmission Oil Cooler

You installed the wrong trans cooler. Bigger isn't always better. It is possible you may do more harm than good. If I were to install this cooler, I would have run the fluid into the cooler first, then to the radiator. You don't want to overheat a slushbox tranny, but you also want them to run at the operating temp they were designed for.

While you are correct, have you ever actually seen an auto tranny run cool? I have never heard of it regardless of the cooler size installed.

Only in the winter....

I have to chuckle about not looking for the oil lines at the radiator and not reading the instructions! We've all been there and have the Tee shirt hanging in the closet. Even if we won't admit it. Gotta learn sometime.

If you've ever cut apart a radiator and seen what passes for a cooler, you will be double happy to add an aux unit.

Exactly why my radiator tranny coolers always wind up cooling the power steering instead.

While this has nothing to do with after-market tranny coolers, my '07 Tundra,5.7L, 6speed, has a transmission fluid heater and cooler. The heater is plumbed into the engine coolant system;teed off the cabin heater line, and the cooler is an air-flow, same as an after-market,and no radiator cooler. The truck also has an engine oil cooler and a power steering fluid cooler, both of which are air-flow designs.

Yes I have heard of it, yes I have seen it. I'm just trying to point out that bigger isn't always better. If a tranny could never run too cool, they would not bother making so many different sizes. If cooler is better, try using an A/C condenser for a tranny cooler, see how long your tranny lasts.
